Relations.—By its ui^per floor, with the Levator palpebrae. By its undersurface, with the optic nerve, the ophthalmic artery, the nasal nerve, and thebranch of the third nerve which provides it; and, in entrance, with the tendon ofthe Superior indirect, and the globe of the attention. The Inferior and Inside Recti come up by a typical tendon (the ligament ofZinn),* which is connected around the circumference of the optic foramen, exceptat its higher and outer half. Between the twoheads of the Exterior rectus is a slender interval, via which passes thethird, the nasal department of the ophthalmic division of the fifth and the sixth nerves, and the ophthalmic vein. Though almost all of those muscular tissues current a commonorigin and are inserted in the same method into the sclerotic coat, there arecertain variations to be noticed in them, as regards their size and breadth. The Inside rectus is the broadest; the Exterior is the longest; and theSuperior is the thinnest and narrowest. The Superior indirect is a fusiform muscle, positioned on the higher and innerside of the orbit, inner to the Levator palpebrge. It arises a few line abovethe internal margin of the optic foramen, and, passing forwards to the internal angleof the orbit, terminates i
