e it anastomoseswith the dorsal department of the subscapular artery. Moreover distributing branchesto the Sterno-mastoid, Subclavius, and neighbouring muscle mass, it provides off a supra-sternal department, which crosses over the sternal finish of the clavicle to the skinof the higher a part of the chest; and a supra-acromial department, which, piercing theTrapezius muscle, provides the cutaneous floor of the acromion, anastomosingwith the acromial thoracic artery. Because the artery passes over the transverseligament of the scapula, a department descends into four;he subscapular fossa, ramifiesbeneath that muscle, and anastomoses with the posterior and subscapular arteries.It additionally sends branches to the acromio-clavicular joint and the shoulder-joint, anda nutrient artery to the clavicle. The Transversalis Colli passes transversely outwards, throughout the higher partof the subclavian triangle, to the anterior margin of the Trapezius muscle,beneath which it divides into two branches, the suioerficial cervical and the Q Q 2

In its passage throughout the neck, it crosses in entrance of theScaleni muscle mass and the brachial plexus, between the divisions of which it some-times passes, and is roofed by the Platysma, Sterno-mastoid, Omo-hyoid, and• Trapezius muscle mass. The superficial cervical ascends beneath the anterior margin of the Trape-zius, distributing branches to it, and to the neighbouring muscle mass and glands inthe neck, and anastomoses with the superficial department of the arteria princepscervicis. The posterior scapular passes beneath the Levator anguli scapulae to thesuperior angle of the scapula. It now descends alongside the posterior border ofthat bone so far as the inferior angle, the place it anastomoses with the subscapularbranch of the axillary. In its course it's coated by the Rhomboid muscle mass,supplying them and the Latissimus dorsi and Trapezius, and anastomosing withthe suprascapular and subscapular arteries, and with the posterior branches ofsome of the intercostal arter
